![]() Happy New Year! Not a normal Spark! for January 1st. Spark Pro Series - JanuSpiceworks Originals. If I were to post this same issue again, I think I would name it "Newly purchased Microsoft Open Value agreement doesn't appear in VLSC for end user or reseller" because I'm thinking my issue isn't really about VDA except that it is awfully hard to get authoritative information about how this is supposed to work and what to expect. I appreciate all the support you all have provided so far. I'd rather work with a human than a web ticket, but this way I can keep track of the request and escalate. I had to guess at the URL because the "contact us" page provided by Microsoft doesn't provide a link for the US, just for other territories. I also opened a web ticket with VLSC tech support. They can't understand why VLSC tech support would have said that. That said that is simply false that VLSC is not for Open Value. The fact that the agreements are not appearing is the problem that needs to be worked out. They advised that the agreements should in fact automatically appear in both the customers VLSC account and ours as a reseller. ![]() They confirmed that the original claim that activation keys are published to VLSC as part of the transaction. Today I reached back out to Ingram and escalated. There is zero reason they shouldn't be able to help ext.76163 opt 4 Get back in touch with Ingram and have them escalate the issue until it's resolved. It is weird to me that if there are no controls in place, why bother with an activation process in the first place? ![]() I found this helpful post: Opens a new windowĭo you know what would prevent everyone from using this activation method to illegally activate Windows? None of the steps seem to require that a purchase was made. On your suggestion I've looked into how KMS works with publicly available keys (called GVLKs I've learned). KMS uses a generic key, the same key for everyone, which I posted in a link in my previous reply.ĭuring the purchase this is not how we were advised we would activate the VMs. VLSC provides private keys that are just for your company. Wouldn't setting up a kms server still require that you get your hands on a generic key through VLSC? Again my problem is the 0 keys of any kind appear in VLSC. The VM is running Windows 10, version 1703 or 1709, or the hoster is not an authorized QMTH partner. I can't tell if there is simply something wrong with how this transaction got registered with VLSC, or if despite the emails from Microsoft, VLSC isn't the right way to gain access to the keys. I'm trying to figure out how to get access to the Windows 10 activations keys that come with a Open Value VDA purchase. I'm not trying to understand how to license the config we have. This thread seems to be getting off topic. The customer has server equipment on-prem and hosting some Windows 10 VMs. ? Based on the doc I linked, AAD or the user being E3/E5 licensed for VDA means that the VM will activate itself, based on those credentials at sign in. ![]() According to this MS doc Opens a new windowyou can use Azure AD in some cases, but it depends on the hoster. But AFAIK, you would just use your Windows 10 media from VLSC to create your image to use with your virtualization solution.įatLUNCH To use the VLSC media you would need an activation key of some sort, or Windows 10 will complain about being unlicensed. It has been a while since I've been on VLSC to check. I'm pretty sure Windows VDA does NOT have a specific download or license key with it. What you mean by VDA using Open Value ? To use VDI, there would be quite a few licenses needed.VDA itself is an add-on subscription.ĭo you ever read a post before commenting? He purchased VDA licenses from a distributor via the Open Value program and is having trouble accessing his purchase. Can anyone shed some light on this for us?Ĭan you give more details so we can understand and maybe help you better ? This has lingered for a couple months now and we are very frustrated. The vlsc support desk indicated that vlsc is only for Open, not Open Value, but they could not point us to a support group that can help. We called ingram and microsoft multiple times and no one can explain how to gain access to Open Value license keys. These emails indicated that we can access the VDA license keys (these are used to activate windows running virtually) at the vlsc web site.īoth we and our customer have signed into the vlsc web site and there are no licenses there and there is no way to add them. We and our customer received automated messages from Microsoft confirming the purchase. We made our first purchase of VDA licenses through the Open Value program. We are a new microsoft reseller using Ingram as our distributor.
